Philly Cheesesteak Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) 96–99% lean ground beef or extra-lean ground turkey
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 green bell peppers, sliced
  • 1 mushroom cup (optional), sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt, ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)

Light creamy topping

  • 1 cup non-fat plain Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup fat-free cottage cheese
  • ½ cup reduced-fat shredded mozzarella (or fat-free if available)
  • 1 egg (helps it set — optional but recommended)
  • Pinch salt + pepper

👉 Blend or whisk the topping so it’s smooth.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F / 190°C. Spray a baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a skillet, cook the lean beef/turkey until browned. Drain any liquid.
  3. Add onion, peppers, mushrooms, garlic and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in Worcestershire, salt, pepper, paprika. Simmer 2–3 minutes.
  5. Spread meat + veggie mixture evenly in the baking dish.
  6. Pour the Greek-yogurt cheese topping over the top and spread.
  7. Bake 20–25 minutes, until set and lightly golden.
  8. Let rest 5 minutes, then slice into 6 portions.
