Weight Watchers Zero Point Chocolate Mug Cake
This banana chocolate mug cake is a quick, single-serving option for days when you want something warm without baking a full dessert. Banana provides the sweetness and most of the structure, while the egg helps the cake set in the microwave. The result is softer and more pudding-like than a traditional flour-based cake.
Ingredients
- 1 medium banana
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 packet Splenda Naturals Sugar & Stevia sweetener blend, or sweetener to taste
Instructions
- Peel the banana and mash it in a bowl until only very small lumps remain.
- Add the egg, cocoa powder, and sweetener. Mix thoroughly, scraping the bottom and sides of the bowl so no dry cocoa remains.
- Pour the mixture into a microwave-safe mug with enough empty space at the top for the cake to rise.
- Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Microwave power varies, so check that the center has set before eating. If it is still wet, continue in short intervals.
- Let the mug stand for 1–2 minutes before serving; the cake will be very hot immediately after cooking.
Helpful Tips
Mashing the banana well gives the cake a more even texture. A wide mug or small microwave-safe bowl also cooks more evenly than a tall, narrow cup. Do not overfill the mug, because the egg mixture can rise quickly.
For a deeper chocolate flavor, make sure the cocoa is fully dispersed before microwaving. If your banana is very ripe, taste the mixture before adding the full amount of sweetener. Optional toppings such as berries, a spoonful of yogurt, or a small amount of powdered peanut butter can change the nutrition and points.
Storage and Serving
This recipe is best eaten warm soon after cooking. Because it contains egg, refrigerate any uneaten portion promptly and reheat it until hot before serving. The texture becomes firmer after refrigeration.
